history of the company

Orchard Fresh Foods Limited is a family run business, situated in the heart of Orchard County in Northern Ireland. The Fearon family have been involved in the growing of Bramley apples in Orchards beside their family homestead in Loughgall, County Armagh since the 1960's. Initially the business concentrated on growing and selling to the wholesale market.

In 2001 Bernard Fearon took the decision to expand the business by offering processed apple for sale. This led to the set up of a purpose built modern facility for fruit processing of the highest quality. Significant investment was made at this stage.

The facility covers 30,000 square feet and can accommodate the storage of the entire harvest. Apples are graded and packed here for the wholesale market and also graded for processing.

This facility is unique because the whole operation is contained on one site thus providing a high quality fresh product. This also aids production speed and traceability and keeps costs down, which enables the company to produce quality products at a competitive price.

Orchard Fresh Foods Limited has received Invest NI Selective Financial Assistance in support of its investment and growth plans. Part financed by the Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme for Northern Ireland 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. These projects aim to develop our product range and expand into other market sectors. We have developed a new product range and identified growth opportunities which can be met through the purchase of additional apple processing equipment and expansion of our cold storage facilities which will facilitate the storage of the crop and production of higher specification peeled and sliced apple products.
